[2016] Chile - Torres del Paine
Torres del Paine is a national park in Chile's Patagonia region. It's best known for glaciers and lakes. In the past the area was affected by 3 major fires accidentally started by tourists in 1985, 2005 and 2011. Today there are severe penalties for making fire outside designated areas and tourism is highly regulated. There are efforts to discourage backpackers and bring more tour groups.

Common area for eating where you are allowed to cook. There is also a fireplace and you'll need to find dried wood in the forest. Most people didn't have the right equipment so ended up with wet clothes, shoes and trying to warm close to fire. We never got wet and also avoided the fire area as it feels really bad once you are further.
